Brevard City Council

Synopsis of June 17, 2024 Brevard City Council Meeting

by Jeff Brewer

A short-handed Brevard City Council Monday (June 17) evening tabled proposed amendments to the sidewalk usage policy and approved beginning scope of work ($352,000 expenditure) for a wastewater treatment plant built in 1987 and in dire need of an overhaul. Council members Pamela Holder and Lauren Wise were absent, but some decisions still were made. The initial spend on the wastewater plant is expected to come from $13 million awarded by the state. KCI Associates of NC has been hired to do the work. In the meantime, one downtown business owner described the sidewalk policy as "nit-picking" and that decision was postponed.
