Summer Holidays in Lanzarote

Lanzarote in the Canaries is well known as a winter sun destination.  As the island boasts a semi tropical climate that generates temperatures in excess of 20 Celsius all year round.  Thanks to its idyllic location just off the Atlantic coast of Africa.  But Lanzarote is also a very popular summer holiday destination too – with flights, accommodation and car hire all very keenly priced.  An important consideration given the current economic climate.

Anyone planning a summer break abroad on a budget should therefore take a close look at Lanzarote.  As the fourth largest of the Canary Islands offers excellent value for money – as well as offering high standards of accommodation and lots for visitors to do and see.

Getting to the island has never been cheaper or easier – as over the last year all of the UK´s main budget airlines have started to compete on this route.  As a result it is now possible to book return flights to Lanzarote with low cost carriers such as Ryanair from as little as €100 return.  With services now available from virtually every major airport across the UK and Eire.

Rental accommodation is also much cheaper than on other Spanish holiday islands.  For example Lanzarote holiday villas are available from around €400 per week.  A price that would be unthinkable on islands such as Ibiza and Mallorca.  Whilst apartments are even cheaper still and can be rented from €180 per week.  This largely reflects the fact that the season on Lanzarote isn’t confined to just a short three month period.  For the same reason car hire in Lanzarote is also very reasonably priced too – with vehicles available from as little as €15 per day.

This makes touring the island very affordable – and all of the main tourist attractions are also state subsidised.  Which means that entrance prices are pegged at just €8 per adult and €4 for children.  This buys admission to all of the most popular attractions such as the Timanfya National Park – home to Lanzarote’s now dormant volcanoes.  And the many creations of the local artist César Manrique –such as the Mirador del Rio and the Cactus Garden.

Package holidays in Lanzarote are also now being marketed by leading tour operators such as First Choice and Thomas Cook with generous discounts for early booking.  With price reductions of 10% and more now available on all summer breaks.
