Where can tourists enjoy a good value winter break this year?  The impact of the credit crunch and the weakness of sterling against the euro has had an inevitable impact on overseas travel.  With many downgrading their expectations and swapping the Caribbean for the Canaries.  Where tourists can enjoy holidays in Lanzarote and other islands such as Tenerife at a fraction of the cost.

Like the other six Canary islands Lanzarote enjoys a semi tropical climate and is located four hour flying time from the UK.  Making this Europe’s closest winter sun destination.  With temperatures reaching the early 20´s Celsius even during the depths of December and January.

As well as great weather the island offers visitors loads to see and do.  There are over 90 beaches to explore, along with a host of natural wonders. Most notable of which is the Timanfaya National Park – created by massive eruptions in the 18th century which totally transformed the interior of the island.  Leaving a surreal scenery of lave flows and spent volcanoes in its wake.

The island is also home to the many creations of the local artist Cesar Manrique.  Who created seven ecologically friendly tourist centres around Lanzarote – the best known of which are the Jameos del Agua and the Cesar Manrique Foundation.
